Pre-assembled M8 sensor cables with injection-molded connectors for connecting compact industrial sensors, actuators, and I/O devices in space-constrained installations. The M8 connector (8mm thread, IEC 61076-2-104) is the smaller sibling of the M12 — used where the M12’s 12mm thread footprint is too large, such as on miniature proximity sensors, fiber optic amplifiers, and compact photoelectric sensors. Available in straight and 90° right-angle configurations to accommodate different cable routing requirements without bending the cable at the connector exit.

M8 vs M12 — When to Use Each

  • M8 (this product): 8mm thread, 3A per pin, 0.25mm² conductors. Used for miniature sensors with M8 connector bodies — common on compact inductive sensors (Sick, Balluff, IFM, Pepperl+Fuchs miniature series), fiber optic amplifiers, and small photoelectric sensors. Panel cutout: 8mm hole.
  • M12: 12mm thread, 4A per pin, 0.34mm² conductors. The dominant standard for general industrial sensor wiring. Higher current capacity, more robust mechanical connection. Panel cutout: 12mm hole.
  • Key rule: Match the cable connector to the sensor’s connector body thread size. M8 and M12 are not interchangeable — the threads will not mate.

Straight vs Right Angle — Cable Exit Selection

  • Straight exit: Cable exits parallel to the connector axis. Best when there is sufficient clearance behind the sensor for the cable to run straight. Simpler, lower profile at the connector body.
  • 90° right angle exit: Cable exits perpendicular to the connector axis. Essential when the sensor is mounted close to a wall, panel, or adjacent component that blocks straight cable exit. Reduces cable bend stress at the connector. Required for sensors mounted in recessed positions or tight enclosures.
