DT vs DTM vs DTP — Which Series Do You Need?
Deutsch offers three primary sealed connector families. Understanding the difference prevents ordering errors:

DT Series (this kit): Size 16 contacts, 13A, 16–20AWG. The most widely used series for general automotive and agricultural wiring. Rectangular housing.

DTM Series: Smaller, size 20 contacts, 7.5A, 20–24AWG. Used in space-constrained ECU and sensor applications.

Crimp Tool Compatibility
DT size 16 contacts require a proper ratchet crimp tool for reliable termination. Compatible tools include:

- Generic ratchet crimp tools with B-die or open-barrel die inserts (verify die compatibility before use)
Note: Do not use non-ratchet pliers-style crimpers. Inconsistent crimp force causes terminal backout and intermittent faults — the most common failure mode in DT connector assemblies.
Assembly Instructions
- Strip wire insulation to 5–6mm. Do not nick conductor strands.
- Insert wire into crimp terminal and crimp with HDT-48-00 or equivalent ratchet tool.
- Insert crimped terminal into housing from the rear until you hear/feel a positive click.
- Insert wedge lock from the front to secure all terminals and prevent backout.
- Mate male (DT04) and female (DT06) housings until the latch clicks into the locked position.
