86×86mm Solid Wood Embedded Power Outlet – Childproof EU/RU/FR Socket, Fireproof Vintage Panel for Industrial & Villa
86×86mm Solid Wood Embedded Power Outlet – Childproof EU/RU/FR Socket, Fireproof Vintage Panel
A premium decorative wall socket combining a solid wood panel with a standard 86×86mm back box footprint and EU/RU/FR-compatible socket insert. The natural wood grain provides a warm, artisanal aesthetic suited to industrial loft, Scandinavian, vintage, and villa interior design styles where standard plastic socket covers are visually incongruous. The childproof shutter mechanism prevents accidental insertion of foreign objects, and the fireproof-rated wood treatment meets electrical installation safety requirements.
Key Specifications
- Panel Size: 86×86mm (standard 86 series back box)
- Panel Material: Solid wood (species varies by variant — walnut, oak, pine)
- Socket Type: EU (Type F Schuko), RU (Type F with earthing clips), or FR (Type E with earth pin) — select variant
- Current Rating: 10A, 250V AC
- Childproof: Yes — spring-loaded shutter requires simultaneous insertion of both pins
- Fire Rating: Fireproof-treated wood panel (850°C glow wire test compliant)
- Grounding: Yes — earth contact included
- Installation: Flush mount, standard 86×86mm back box
EU vs RU vs FR Socket — Type F vs Type E Explained
- Type F (Schuko, EU/DE/AT/NL): Two round pins (4.8mm diameter, 19mm spacing) + two earthing clips on the sides of the socket. Used in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, and most of continental Europe. Accepts Type C plugs (no earth).
- Type F with earthing clips (RU/Russia): Identical to Type F Schuko. Russia uses the same socket standard as Germany. Fully interchangeable with EU Type F.
- Type E (FR/France/Belgium/Poland): Two round holes + a protruding earth pin in the socket (not clips). The earth pin is in the socket, not the plug. French plugs have a hole to accept the earth pin. Type E and Type F are partially compatible — a Type E plug fits a Type F socket (earth not connected), but a Type F plug does not fit a Type E socket (earth pin blocks insertion).
What Questions Does This Product Answer?
- "Is solid wood safe for electrical socket panels?" — Yes, when the wood is treated to meet electrical safety standards. This panel uses fireproof-treated wood that passes the 850°C glow wire test (IEC 60695-2-11) — the same standard applied to plastic socket housings. Untreated wood is not suitable for electrical installations.
- "Can I use this socket with a standard European back box?" — Yes. The 86×86mm panel fits standard European 60mm or 65mm depth back boxes. Verify the back box depth is sufficient for the socket module depth before installation.
- "What is the childproof shutter mechanism?" — The shutter is a spring-loaded plastic barrier inside the socket that covers the live and neutral holes. It only opens when both pins are inserted simultaneously with equal pressure — preventing a child from inserting a single object (finger, key, wire) into one hole. This meets IEC 60884-1 childproof requirements.
- "How do I maintain the wood panel?" — Wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use water-saturated cloths or chemical cleaners — moisture can cause the wood to warp or crack. Apply a thin coat of furniture wax annually to maintain the wood finish and prevent drying.
Typical Applications
- Residential interiors: Living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens with natural wood, Scandinavian, or industrial design themes
- Hospitality: Boutique hotel rooms, Airbnb properties, restaurant interiors with artisanal aesthetic
- Commercial: Design studios, creative offices, co-working spaces, retail boutiques
- Renovation projects: Period property restorations, loft conversions, barn conversions where modern plastic sockets are visually inappropriate
Installation Notes
- Turn off the circuit breaker before installation
- Connect L (Line), N (Neutral), and PE (Earth) to the correct terminals — verify terminal markings on the socket module
- Do not overtighten the mounting screws — solid wood can crack under excessive screw torque
- Ensure the back box is flush with the wall surface before fitting the wood panel — an uneven surface causes the wood panel to rock and may crack over time
