4-Pin Locking Speaker Cable Connector – Neutrik Style Twist-Lock Plug for Power Amplifier, PA System & Stage Audio, 4/10/20pcs
4-Pin Locking Speaker Cable Connector – Neutrik Style Twist-Lock for PA System & Stage Audio
Neutrik-style 4-pin twist-lock speaker connectors (Speakon-compatible) for professional audio applications. The twist-lock mechanism provides a secure, accidental-release-proof connection between power amplifiers and speaker cabinets — essential in live sound environments where cable tension or foot traffic could disconnect a standard plug. The 4-pin configuration supports bi-amplified speaker systems (separate connections for high-frequency and low-frequency drivers) or dual-voice-coil subwoofers. Compatible with Neutrik NL4FC/NL4MP and equivalent Speakon-standard connectors.

2-Pin vs 4-Pin Speakon — Which Do You Need?
- 2-pin (NL2): Single amplifier channel to single speaker driver. Pins 1+ and 1-. Used for passive full-range speakers and subwoofers driven by a single amplifier channel.
- 4-pin (NL4, this product): Two independent circuits in one connector. Pins 1+/1- (first circuit) and 2+/2- (second circuit). Used for: bi-amplified speakers (separate HF and LF amplifier channels), dual-voice-coil subwoofers, and daisy-chaining speakers. The 4-pin connector is backward-compatible with 2-pin — a 2-pin plug mates with a 4-pin socket using only the 1+/1- contacts.
- 8-pin (NL8): Four independent circuits. For complex multi-way speaker systems and line arrays. Less common.
Speakon vs XLR vs 1/4” Jack for Speaker Connections
- Speakon (this product): Twist-lock, cannot accidentally disconnect, 30A rated, no exposed live contacts when disconnected. The professional standard for all power amplifier-to-speaker connections. Required for any application above 50W.
- 1/4” jack (TS): No locking, exposed live contacts, maximum 15A. Acceptable only for low-power practice amplifiers. Never use for professional PA applications.
- XLR: Locking, but designed for balanced line-level signals (microphone, line). Not rated for speaker-level power. Do not use XLR for speaker connections.
What Questions Does This Product Answer?
- "How do I wire a 4-pin Speakon connector?" — For standard mono speaker connection: 1+ = positive (red), 1- = negative (black). Leave 2+ and 2- unconnected. For bi-amp: 1+/1- = LF amplifier channel, 2+/2- = HF amplifier channel. Always verify the speaker cabinet’s internal wiring before connecting a bi-amp signal — incorrect wiring will damage the HF driver.
- "How do I lock and unlock a Speakon connector?" — To connect: insert the plug into the socket and rotate clockwise until it clicks (approximately 1/4 turn). To disconnect: press the release tab on the plug body and rotate counter-clockwise while pulling out. Never pull the cable to disconnect — always use the release tab.
- "Are these compatible with genuine Neutrik Speakon sockets?" — Yes. These connectors follow the Speakon standard and are mechanically compatible with genuine Neutrik NL4MP panel sockets and NL4FC cable connectors. For touring and rental applications requiring guaranteed compatibility, specify genuine Neutrik components.
Typical Applications
- Live sound: Power amplifier to speaker cabinet connections for PA systems, stage monitors, and subwoofers
- Installation audio: Fixed speaker system wiring in venues, houses of worship, and conference rooms
- Bi-amplified systems: Active crossover to separate HF and LF amplifier connections
- Speaker repair: Replacing damaged Speakon connectors on speaker cables and cabinet panels
