Why Boost Pressure Sensor Connectors Fail
Boost pressure sensors are mounted on the intercooler outlet pipe or intake manifold, in the highest-temperature zone of the forced induction system. Charge air temperatures at the intercooler outlet can reach 60–80°C under load, and the sensor connector is additionally exposed to oil mist from the PCV and blow-by system. A corroded Pin 1 (5V reference) causes the ECU to read zero boost pressure and enter limp mode (P0299), even with a fully functional turbocharger. The connector is the first component to inspect before replacing the boost pressure sensor or turbocharger.
