HB3 and HB4 halogen bulbs draw 55–65W continuously. A corroded or loose bulb connector increases contact resistance, which converts electrical energy into heat at the connector rather than light at the bulb. On Toyota Camry and RAV4 platforms, the headlight bulb connector is the most common cause of headlight failure after the bulb itself — the connector melts from sustained high-resistance heating, destroying the socket. Replacing the connector with a new OEM-specification housing restores full contact and eliminates the heat source.
