Description

SPL Fast Wiring Terminal Block – SPL-42/62/63/82/93, Parallel & Branch Docking Wire Connector

SPL series push-in fast wiring terminal blocks for tool-free wire connection in lighting, HVAC, and building electrical installations. The push-in spring clamp mechanism accepts stripped wire without a screwdriver — insert the stripped wire end and the spring clamp locks it in place. The multi-port design allows multiple wires to be connected to the same circuit (parallel) or branched from a single supply to multiple outputs. Compact, transparent housing allows visual verification of wire insertion without disassembly.

SPL Series Model Reference

  • SPL-42: 4 ports, 2-wire input / 2-wire output. For simple 2-way parallel connections.
  • SPL-62: 6 ports, 2-wire input / 4-wire output. For branching one supply to 4 loads.
  • SPL-63: 6 ports, 3-wire input / 3-wire output. For 3-phase or 3-circuit parallel connections.
  • SPL-82: 8 ports, 2-wire input / 6-wire output. For branching one supply to 6 loads.
  • SPL-93: 9 ports, 3-wire input / 6-wire output. For 3-phase branching to 6 loads.

Key Specifications

  • Wire Range: 0.5–2.5mm² (20–14AWG)
  • Current Rating: 24A (per port)
  • Voltage Rating: 450V AC
  • Connection: Push-in spring clamp (tool-free for solid wire; flat screwdriver for stranded wire release)
  • Housing Material: Transparent PA, flame retardant
  • Operating Temperature: -30°C to +85°C

Push-In Spring Clamp vs Screw Clamp Terminals

  • Screw clamp (traditional): Wire secured by tightening a screw. Requires a screwdriver. Higher vibration resistance. Allows wire removal and reinsertion. Preferred for industrial applications with vibration and for stranded wire without ferrules.
  • Push-in spring clamp (this product): Wire inserted directly — no tool required for solid wire. Faster installation. Consistent clamping force regardless of installer technique. For stranded wire, use wire ferrules (end sleeves) to prevent individual strands from escaping the clamp. Preferred for lighting, HVAC, and building wiring where installation speed is important.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use stranded wire with SPL push-in terminals?

Yes, with wire ferrules (end sleeves). Crimp an insulated wire ferrule onto the stripped stranded wire end before insertion. The ferrule consolidates the strands into a solid bundle that the spring clamp can grip reliably. Without ferrules, individual strands can escape the clamp area, reducing contact area and increasing resistance. Solid wire can be inserted directly without ferrules.

How do I release a wire from a push-in terminal?

Insert a flat-blade screwdriver (2–3mm width) into the release slot adjacent to the wire entry port. Press the screwdriver inward to depress the spring clamp, then pull the wire out. Do not pull the wire without depressing the spring — this deforms the spring clamp and reduces clamping force for subsequent insertions.

What is the maximum wire size for SPL terminals?

2.5mm² (14AWG). Do not insert wire larger than 2.5mm² — oversized wire will not seat correctly and may damage the spring clamp. For circuits requiring larger wire (4mm² and above), use screw clamp terminal blocks (UK series) or busbar connections.

Are SPL terminals suitable for outdoor use?

SPL terminals are designed for indoor and protected enclosure use. They are not IP-rated for outdoor or wet environment installation. For outdoor wiring connections, use IP-rated junction boxes with screw clamp terminals, or waterproof wire connectors (Wago 221 series with IP68 housing).

Typical Applications

  • LED lighting: Branching LED driver outputs to multiple LED fixtures
  • HVAC: Control wiring connections in air handling units and fan coil units
  • Building wiring: Junction box connections for lighting circuits
  • Solar: DC wiring connections in indoor inverter and battery installations
  • Panel wiring: Low-current signal wiring in control panels and distribution boards
