REMA Type Electric Forklift Battery Connector – 80A / 160A / 320A High Current Male & Female Plug Socket
REMA Type Electric Forklift Battery Connector – 80A / 160A / 320A High Current Plug & Socket
REMA-type (also known as Anderson-style or SB-series compatible) high-current battery connectors are the industry standard for electric forklift battery connections, industrial battery chargers, and high-power DC distribution systems. The genderless or gendered plug-and-socket design allows quick battery swap without tools, while the large contact area and silver-plated copper contacts minimize resistance and heat generation at high continuous currents. Available in 80A, 160A, and 320A ratings to match the battery and charger specifications of your equipment.

REMA vs Anderson SB Series — Compatibility Guide
REMA and Anderson Connector (SB series) are the two dominant brands in the industrial battery connector market. Their connectors are physically similar but not always interchangeable:
- Anderson SB50 (50A): Grey housing. Not compatible with REMA 80A — different contact size and housing geometry.
- Anderson SB175 (175A): Various colors. Physically similar to REMA 160A but contact dimensions differ. Cross-mating may appear to work but causes increased contact resistance and potential arcing.
- Anderson SB350 (350A): Grey or red housing. Comparable to REMA 320A. Verify contact and housing dimensions before assuming compatibility.
- Rule: Use matched pairs from the same manufacturer throughout a system. Mixed-brand mating is not certified and voids equipment warranties.
Current Rating Selection Guide
- 80A: Small electric forklifts (1–2 tonne), golf carts, AGVs, small floor scrubbers. Battery voltage typically 24V–48V.
- 160A: Medium electric forklifts (2–3.5 tonne), pallet jacks, industrial floor cleaners. Battery voltage typically 48V–80V.
- 320A: Heavy electric forklifts (3.5–8 tonne), reach trucks, large AGVs, high-power EV charging. Battery voltage typically 48V–80V.
What Questions Does This Product Answer?
- "How do I identify the correct REMA connector for my forklift?" — Check the existing connector on the battery or charger cable. The current rating is usually molded into the housing. Measure the housing width: 80A ≈ 57mm wide, 160A ≈ 76mm wide, 320A ≈ 103mm wide. Match the housing color if your facility uses color-coding for voltage identification.
- "Can I connect a 160A connector to an 80A socket?" — No. Different current ratings have different housing sizes and contact dimensions. They will not mate. This is a deliberate safety feature to prevent connecting a high-current charger to a low-current battery circuit.
- "What causes REMA connectors to overheat?" — The three most common causes: (1) under-crimped contacts — high resistance at the crimp joint generates heat; (2) worn or pitted contact faces — replace contacts when pitting exceeds 1mm depth; (3) operating above rated current — verify charger output current against connector rating.
- "How do I clean corroded REMA connector contacts?" — Use a contact cleaning spray (e.g., Caig DeoxIT) and a brass wire brush. Do not use abrasive sandpaper — it removes the silver plating. After cleaning, apply a thin film of contact grease (e.g., Nyogel 760G) to slow re-oxidation.
Typical Applications
- Electric forklifts: Battery-to-truck and battery-to-charger connections (Toyota, Crown, Hyster, Yale, Jungheinrich)
- Industrial AGVs: Automated guided vehicle battery connections and charging docks
- Floor cleaning equipment: Tennant, Nilfisk, Karcher industrial scrubber battery connections
- EV & energy storage: High-power DC bus connections, battery pack assembly, energy storage system (ESS) wiring
- Marine: High-current battery bank connections, electric boat motor power leads
