BSPT vs BSPP — Critical Difference

BSP fittings come in two variants that look identical but seal differently:

BSPT (tapered, this product): Thread diameter decreases along the thread length. Seals via thread interference — the tapered male thread wedges into the female port as it tightens. Use PTFE tape or anaerobic thread sealant on BSPT threads. Common on air compressor ports, pneumatic equipment, and Asian-manufactured machinery.
BSPP (parallel): Thread diameter is constant. Does NOT seal via thread interference — requires a bonded seal washer or O-ring face seal. Do NOT use PTFE tape as the primary seal on BSPP threads.
