Description

High-Current Battery Connector Plug – 50A / 120A / 175A / 350A, 600V Quick Connect Disconnect

Anderson-style high-current battery connector plugs for winch, trailer, forklift, and industrial power cable applications. The push-together / pull-apart design allows rapid connection and disconnection without tools — essential for battery maintenance, equipment changeover, and emergency disconnect applications. Available in four current ratings (50A, 120A, 175A, 350A) to cover the full range from ATV winch connections to forklift battery packs. The 600V DC rating covers all standard battery system voltages from 12V to 48V and beyond.

Current Rating Selection Guide

  • 50A (SB50-style): ATV winches, trailer auxiliary power, battery jump-start connections, solar charge controller connections. Wire: 6–10mm² (10–8AWG).
  • 120A (SB120-style): Heavy-duty winches, high-current battery connections, electric vehicle auxiliary circuits. Wire: 16–25mm² (6–4AWG).
  • 175A (SB175-style): Golf cart battery connections, small forklift battery packs, high-current solar inverter connections. Wire: 25–35mm² (4–2AWG).
  • 350A (SB350-style): Industrial forklift battery packs, large UPS systems, high-current EV charging connections. Wire: 50–70mm² (1/0–2/0AWG).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect these under load (hot-swap)?

Not recommended. Connecting or disconnecting high-current connectors under load causes arcing at the contact surfaces — each arc event erodes the silver plating and reduces contact life. For battery connections, disconnect the load before disconnecting the battery connector. For applications requiring hot-swap capability, use connectors specifically designed for make-before-break or arc-suppression (e.g., Amphenol Radsok or TE Connectivity RADSOK series).

Are these connectors polarized?

Anderson-style connectors are not inherently polarized — the male and female halves are identical and can be mated in either orientation. To prevent polarity reversal, use color-coded housings: red for positive, black for negative. The housing color does not affect the electrical connection — it is a visual indicator only. For safety-critical applications, use keyed connectors or physically separate positive and negative connectors to prevent accidental polarity reversal.

What is the difference between 175A and 350A connectors?

175A connectors (SB175-style) use a smaller housing and contact than 350A (SB350-style). They are not interchangeable — a 175A plug will not mate with a 350A socket. The 175A is the standard for golf cart and small forklift battery connections; the 350A is the standard for industrial forklift battery packs. Always verify the current rating and connector size against the existing equipment before ordering replacement connectors.

How do I crimp the contacts for these connectors?

Use a heavy-duty cable lug crimp tool (hydraulic or ratchet type) with the appropriate die for the contact size and wire gauge. For 175A and 350A connectors with large wire (25–70mm²), a hydraulic crimp tool is required — hand crimp tools do not provide sufficient force for large cable lugs. After crimping, insert the contact into the housing until it clicks into the retention position.

Typical Applications

  • Forklifts: Battery pack connection and disconnection for battery maintenance and changeover
  • Golf carts: Battery pack connections (175A standard)
  • Solar energy storage: Battery-to-inverter and battery-to-charger connections
  • Electric vehicles: Auxiliary battery connections and charging interfaces
  • Winches & ATVs: High-current power connections (50A and 120A)
