Front turn signal and fog light connectors are mounted in the front bumper area, directly exposed to road spray, stone chips, and car wash water. The 3-pin connector’s control signal pin (Pin 3) is the most vulnerable — a corroded control pin causes the BCM to log a lighting fault even when the bulb or LED is functional. On vehicles with LED turn signals, a corroded control pin causes the LED driver module to lose its activation signal, resulting in a turn signal that does not flash even though the LED strip appears undamaged.
Q: My turn signal bulb is good but the light doesn’t flash — is it the connector?
A: A turn signal that doesn’t flash with a good bulb indicates the BCM control signal (Pin 3) is not reaching the light. Inspect the 3-pin connector before replacing the BCM or flasher relay.
